Animal Crossing: New Leaf review: owing a debt | Shack News

Added: 05.06.2013 11:17 | 14 views | 0 comments

Shack News: "More than most other series in Nintendo's library, Animal Crossing is iterative. Since its Gamecube debut, each installment has made very minor tweaks and improvements to the last, culminating (so far) in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. This one's twist on the familiar isn't quite enough to make the experience feel completely fresh, but the friendship simulator is still a welcoming place to while away some time."

Pocket Gamer: Animal Crossing: New Leaf Review

Pocket Gamer: Whenever I'm asked why I adore the Animal Crossing series, I find it incredibly tough to explain the appeal to someone who hasn't played it. After all, who would believe that the joy of collecting the last fossil in a set of dinosaur remains can evoke the raw thrill of winning a hard-fought group battle in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate? Or that when a new shop opens in the town, it's as joyous a moment as making it through a tricky mine cart sequence in Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D?

Animal Crossing: New Leaf Review (Modojo)

Chris Buffa (Modojo): Nintendo's Animal Crossing series is somewhat of a tough sell because it strays outside the video game norm that involves shooting monsters, racing sports cars and solving puzzles. Inevitably, some folks simply won't get it, as was the case with the original GameCube version in 2001. Imagine a college senior gushing about living with anthropomorphic animals, only to watch dumbfounded as friends scratched their heads and left to play something with guns and swords. It was basically PaRappa the Rapper all over again; I received plenty of confused stares over that one too.

Hello there! Apparently, my name is Mayor Squashie, that's correct, I have hung up my boots as the Editor of Nintendo Feed and I've retired to be the Mayor of a little town called Greenly. I received my copy of Animal Crossing: New Leaf around mid-May and I've been playing pretty much none-stop since then. I'll be sharing my exciting adventures as the Mayor of Greenly with you through my weekly Journal.
